astro is simple, terminal based, astrology software for linux and bsd systems including chart animation, solar returns, saving/loading charts, realtime updates and more. the data is easily accesible, front and center, for fast reading and delineations, in a compact form factor to easily work with desktop environment windows or window manager scratchpads.

unhappy with the current state of astrological software? most of which is proprietary, expensive, and not available on linux? dislike the movement towards subscription based software? personally i find it repulsive.
spirituality, spiritual tools, and their codebases should not be hidden behind artificial short term walls to enrichen one who will die, while their code and its restricted walls fade into obscurity. there is an opportunity to create community built, funded, and loved astrological tools and software not just for now, but generations into the future. why not take that chance?
